Wound Care - Certification

The Wound Care Certification Program is a premier training program formulated to meet the needs of the nurses working in different clinical settings. This course provides a comprehensive review about the anatomy & physiology of the skin, wound bed management, treatment modalities and documentation of wounds.

In addition, the hands-on skills competency session provides each attendee with the hands-on experience needed to function as Wound Care Nurse. Course participation will increase the knowledge, skills, ability and confidence of the attendees, leading to improved patient outcomes. Upon successful completion of the program, all attendees will receive OWCN certification as a "Wound Care Nurse Certified" (WCN-C), "Wound Care Practitioner Certified" (WCP-C) or "Wound Care Technician Certified" (WCT-C) title which is valid for (4) years and verifiable online at: www.woundcarenurses.org.

  • Phases of wound healing.

  • Roles of Wound Care Practitioners, Wound Care Nurses and Technicians.
  • Assessment, Documentation, Infection Control, Consultation, Monitoring and Reporting.
  • Legal & Clinical Responsibilities.
  • Documentation & CPT coding review

CEU CREDITS

Participants will earn 8.0 contact hours of continuing education credits for attending and successfully completing the competency skills. This continuing education is approved 8.0 contact hours: Accredited by American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) ** Upon successful completion of the course, each candidate will receive: (1) WC (Nurse, Tech or Practitioner) Certificate.
